Around 50 vehicles have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Automobiles, walls and postboxes were marked, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they reported in a statement.
Police report they were contacted late on Wednesday evening, when a resident noticed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued fluid.
The substance had been applied in the form of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Officers then found numerous other marked automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are illegal in Germany under laws outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Officials state early analysis indicate the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no lead as to its source; investigators are presently not informed of any harm in connection with the occurrence," they stated.
Local authorities said they were working "to resolve the incident" and have requested to the community for information.
A high-ranking representative commented the vandalism made him stunned and needed to be addressed promptly.
"This incident strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reopens the pain of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he posted on a platform, mentioning the murder of nine individuals by a shooter focusing on people of foreign heritage in 2020.
