The Fifth Toy Story Film Trailer Pits The Beloved Duo Versus a Tablet Computer
It has been 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story film was released, launching Pixar as a major animation studio and bringing viewers to beloved figures like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed recently, offering a brief look into the plot but leaving viewers wondering how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Gang
The preview shows Bonnie — who inherited Andy's toys when he grew up — getting a brand new toy, one that alarms the familiar toy group. Bonnie acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the toys appear to consider it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
One thing the teaser avoids is what the sheriff is returned with his friends in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a carnival and helping prize toys find good homes.
Certainly, the filmmakers will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, though. It also raises questions whether his partner will have returned with him. And where is the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?
Connections from the Last Installment
At the very least, some elements are continuing from the earlier movie. The final act the cowboy did before departing for his new life was hand over his symbol of authority to Jessie (the voice actor), leaving her as the leader of the toy domain. In the teaser shows the badge pinned to her shirt.
Hopefully she is still the driving force among the toys.
Toy Story 5 debuts on the scheduled date.
