In a surprising collaboration that defies traditional forecasts, Ubisoft has announced an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, including no-cost extra story content for Shadows players.

Strange Mission Disclosed

According to the authorized release, "An unusual meeting leads heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a original adventure, where hints of prohibited practices and terrifying changes reverberate through the shadows." The plot presents a "strangely garbed woman named Ada" who tasks the characters with traveling into the Crystal Cave—a key location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her ally from a hidden cult.

The adventure centers on "bizarre trials and a monstrous enemy" and is accessible to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Locations and Changes

The trailer highlights the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was previously where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The preview finishes with a striking sequence showing a character, presumably the prisoner, transforming into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Prizes and Additional Material

Players who finish the adventure will receive an unique katana in addition to numerous artifacts hidden throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also includes purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

• Titan-themed costume for Yasuke
• Mikasa attire for Naoe
• Unique weapons
• Survey Corps mount

Third Free Story Addition

This update also introduces the game's latest complimentary story episode, titled "A Puzzlement." This lighthearted adventure teams Naoe and Yasuke as they swap signature skills: Naoe reveals a theatrical version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-lethal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a fresh environmental puzzle that may eventually clarify some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This represents scarcely the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with famous anime franchises. The series previously featured a 2020 crossover story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla informally included a quest that clearly referenced the popular series One-Punch Man.
